A Special First Day for Our Kindergarten Students At Harrah Elementary
Tuesday was an unforgettable day as we opened our doors to welcome our kindergarten students for the very first time! With smiles, backpacks, and a little bit of nervous excitement, our youngest learners took their first steps into school life. Our teachers wasted no time creating a warm, engaging environment where curiosity and joy could thrive. From the very start, students were immersed in learning and discovery, setting the stage for their “Best Year Ever!”.
We are excited to watch these bright young minds grow, laugh, and learn together. Here’s to a year filled with new friendships, joyful experiences, and the beginning of a lifelong love of learning!
Bringing Fun and Smiles to Lunchtime
At Mt. Adams School District, our staff are always finding creative ways to make school a place where every student feels welcome, supported, and excited to learn. This week, our amazing team added an extra spark of joy to lunchtime by showing up in wacky, colorful sunglasses.
The playful twist brought laughter and smiles all around the cafeteria, and our students couldn’t get enough of it! What started as a simple gesture quickly turned into a wave of positive energy that spread throughout the day.
Moments like these remind us that learning happens best in an environment filled with encouragement, connection, and fun. We’re grateful for our staff’s dedication to making school a bright and joyful place for all.
A Joyful Moment at Harrah Elementary School
Wednesday brought one of those unforgettable moments that remind us why Harrah Elementary School is such a special place. As traditional music filled the air outside, a student approached a staff member and asked if she could dance with her in her traditional way. Without hesitation, the staff member joined in—and together they shared a spontaneous, joyful dance that quickly became a celebration for everyone watching.
The smiles, laughter, and energy were contagious. What may have seemed like a simple dance was, in truth, a powerful reminder of the beauty that comes when we honor and respect one another’s traditions.
At the Harrah Campus, we strive to ensure every student feels seen, valued, and proud of who they are. This dance was more than just fun—it was a celebration of culture, connection, and the joy that comes from embracing each other’s stories. Moments like these strengthen our school community and make it an even brighter place to learn and grow.
White Swan Levels Up!
Our students across all grades showcased their creativity by designing new mascots. The seniors brought Rowdy the Graduating Cougar, the juniors introduced Princess Peach, the sophomores created Wreck-It Ralph, and the freshmen wowed their classmates with Bot from Team Umizoomi, and they took home the top prize! Nice job, Freshman!
Summer Jam Recap
On Thursday, August 28th, our community gathered for a fantastic evening at Summer Jam! Attendees enjoyed live music, delicious barbecue, and valuable information and resources from over 25 community partners. Highlights included a fun dunk tank, where participants got splashed, a firearm safety giveaway, and a crosswalk safety event. A special thanks to Mr. Larry Garcia who grilled the burgers and hotdogs! Thank you to everyone who joined us for this fun-filled, community-building night!
Club Sign-Up Day
Students had the exciting opportunity to sign up for a variety of clubs that meet on Wednesdays. From FFA, SkillsUSA, and Construction Club to Culture Club and many more, there was something for everyone! We’re thrilled to see so many students eager to get involved and pursue their passions. Stay tuned for more fun activities and club updates!

Culinary Arts Class Serves Up Sweet Success
The aroma of fresh-baked cookies filled the halls this week as our outstanding Culinary Arts class, led by our new teacher, Mrs. Keely Royce, shared their first creations of the year. Students proudly baked chocolate chip and peanut butter cookies, then invited staff to sample their work. The response was immediate—before long, a line of smiling staff members stretched outside the classroom, eager to enjoy a warm cookie straight from the oven. The students beamed with pride as they passed out their treasured treats, and the staff delighted in every bite of the gastronomical delights.Beyond the sweetness of the day, this moment highlighted the heart of our Culinary Arts program: building confidence, creativity, and connection through hands-on learning. Under Mrs. Keely’s leadership, students are not only developing valuable culinary skills but also experiencing the joy of sharing their work with the school community.
